I don't think that there would be so many versions. Maybe 2 or 3, not more, depends on the complexity of the addon. And maybe some of them may join forces, so things would go even much faster, but in the case of SG mods, this is speculation, this hasn't happened yet, maybe no one modifies anything.

About you developing what BIS develops for AA, sure they would pissed, of course they would, they actually make that to earn their money. That's the difference, the why they are right being pissed and why you would be less right (depends about what exactly, too), you are not making any money, supposedly just having fun, and having the satisfaction of making something good for others. That, and the fact that uncredited modifications are very rare, are the reasons of why you should get much less pissed.

Impatience is one of the greatest bitches, I know. But it isn't always easy to just avoid her. The longer the wait, the more bitching she becomes. And the more beautiful of what you are waiting for is, even the harder it is to avoid impatience. And it increases a hundred fold when you want that to play it until you can't push the keyboard anymore, when one really desires that.
It is always much easier to ask for patience for people who are not so eager about something, or for people that already have the thing.

Oh, and, in case somebody remotely thinks about it, no, I'm not complaining, nor ranting... anything, I'm just having a fair and polite discussion on something I wanted to discuss.

Cheers

Hello to everyone,

First I want to clarify a few thinghs:

There's a lot of people creating addons and they are doing a great job (the STARGATE ADDON is one of the greates) but sometimes the time between releses is very long.

I was impatient to have more units to play in the mod and I was lookink on this site and forum and others sites every day for an update for the last 2 monts.
The WALMIS PUDDLE JUMPER  UNDER DEVELOPMENT is staying in the addons section for months... luckily there is no dust around here....

Anywhere I decided to make one myself but even if I'm good with scripting I was new to Oxigen's way of texturing so I decided to reverse engineer a model. So I pick Digitalae's one.

I AM NOT SAYING HE DID A BAD JOB BUT PLEASE DOWNLOAD HIS BETA AND MINE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF WHICH ARE THE DIFFERENCES. (his model was nor accurate nor complete not animated and not even working right)

I even spent 2 days trying to see where he was wrong
For example the drone model was flying away from a targeted vehicle but was flying right when not locked. Finaly I found that was from the bad GEOMETRY LOD of the drone. And so and so....

I worked for this addon 7 days sometimes for 12h at a time mostly trying to corect some "reversed engineer  errors" and sometimes trying to dodge some limitations of the engine for example I had the following problems:
- creating an axis for the rotation( translation) of the engines I had to put it at a minimim of 20m away of the object. However even if this was part of the MEMORY LOD the ENGINE saw a part of the model and saw the model like it had 25m shifting his geometric center accordingly. I corected this by creating another vertex oposing that one but as a result the center came back in it's place but the engine was seein now a 50m model and ingame it was shaking sideways incontrolable ...

-also the game did not accepted two separate animations for the same object ( or I did't figure out how to do it.)

SO BOTTOM LINE , LIKE I SAID I ONLY USED FRO DIGITALAE:

-the interiour mesh
-the drone mesh
-2 or three textures

ANYTING ELSE FROM THE BODY, EXTERIOUR TEXTURES CONFIG ANIMATIONS AND SCRIPTING I DID MYSELF

SO I COULD HAVE EASYLY TAKE THE FULL CREDID FOR THIS MODEL BUT I CHOOSED TO MENTION DIGITALAE.

Anyway I choosed different because I believe that we are doing this to enrich this addon nobody is making money out of it and personaly I'm not looking for fame.

I created this for the Stargate comunity and mentioned that it is open source because I think that tis work has to be improved by the one who use it. Only like this we can do a thing better.

Shouldn't the engines and drone launchers be seperately animated? I'm sure I've seen the jumper use it's cloak and main engines at the same time

It seem's a bit shaky on take off.  But when the engines come out it's fine.  Just a little hard to manuver through the gate.;)
