Master Bra'tac beat Apophis in a game of chess. Using Mr Bun the Baker.

When Master Bra'tac fell from above and failed to learn to fly on the way down, Hannor Mir still became a street pizza.

Hi all,

Sorry for the lack of updates but I'm currently converting the script that controls DHD dialing over to a function, it means theres alot of looping code to cover; though i've improved a few lines too.

I'll post the new code when its finished.

Isn't there a way you can do it generically? I mean, a single function that controls just the dialing process, and then 2 functions: one that controls DHD dialing, and that calls the first function while executing; and another function that controls the manual dialing (SGC) and that, as the DHD function, also calls the first function while in execution. You'd save code-lines that way I think, and would be able to have distinguished processes that can be easier to debug if errors are found.

Or you do it already this way?

Cheers

The code i'm currently working on is for the joint dialing logic, its the biggest single function in the addon and central to the multiplayer support... thus its a bugger.

If people would prefere then i could release the code after every update untill its complete, though that will be quite hard to follow.

Oh, then it's cool :)

I think we can do fine with just an update when you finish the code, no need to update it every single time you modify a line of code, which would slow you down anyways. ;)

Its hard to blame people for getting a little restless. With the 1.3 gates there were those RC things that fixed stuff and gave people something to mess with. The ARMA gates available to most, dont really have that much to offer.

The thing is, the 1.3 gate was ready to start having release candidates.
The ArmA gate has hit beta stage, and since the last beta has had so many changes that it is essentially a new project.

There is a difference between these:
"Hey guys, we've not heard anything for a while. Are you any closer to a release?"
"Excuse me, dear fellows, but might I enquire as to whether you have made any more progress on your work?"
"Anything new?"
"ZOMG I WNAT TEH GAETS NOW!!!111oneoneone"

We will continue to notify you of developments as they happen, as we did with the OFP gates, but do not expect news with a uniform freuency. It's not going to happen.

does it really makes a difference when its just asked another way?

for real maybe you excuse it one more time than with the other way but it still stays kinda annoying for you for sure.

for real the guys now spam the topic with:
"Hey guys, we've not heard anything for a while. Are you any closer to a release?"

does it really makes it better i think not^^

its kinda hard............there has to be such a project cause one guy cant make it alone.........and also not every guy has the knownlegde to even try something like this.
also the only hope we had for a good sg-game is gone with "stargate the alliance" so for sure a lot people want this really bad.also there is the fact that we dont have one piece of right to make you hurry yourself.your kinda doing it for yourself and your nice to release it so we can play it aswell.myself used to be in a modding team.i am sure evossj4 doesnt ring much bells but we were kinda famous.we had the same probs......we thought about so much solutions to satisfiy our fans.....

solutions:
--release alpha and update step by step(every week):
this type is wished by almost every one.......it gives silence for some hours and then everybody pushes the team for patches.but one good thing.errors will be found which the team might never found out by its own.

--release when its done:
getting annoyed with questioning the whole time...some projects stopped existing untill that point....pretty sad such stuff

--think ok F-CK YOU ALL
i dont think i need to explane it^^

sure you guys got real life.sure you guys dont wanna work on this in every free minute and sure you guys want to get handclaps when its release and prised as gods^^
well its the god given balance between maker and user

and yes! i wrote this on alcohol! and it tastes freaking good:D

No, it doesn't. That's why people shouldn't ask.

Solutions? Wait till it's done. Releasing alphas and updating them each day is not a real solution, and it's hard to do and follow. So the only viable way is to have it when it's done or when the guys doing the stuff feel that it's good enough for it to be on your hands. Other than that, people should resort to patience and understanding if they want it that bad. Because it will be done... just, not as fast as anyone thinks it is.

Cheers

Why would it be hard? a CVS or SVN wouldn't that do the trick? It's easier for multiple team members to work aswell as getting the latest version out to everyone that would want to test it.
