no glyphs......why??ß
« on: May 15, 2008, 03:15:28 pm »

ok i got that mod since a few days and its really nice.cant wait for a proper multiplayer with it:D currently the gate only works for the server guy.....

but oh well here is my problem:

i wanna give the gates custom addresses and i dont know what i am doing wrong.i think i did the same like in the video i saw(which shows how to do it) but it aint a really gut quality so i might forgot something

ok i set a DHD and a stargate(like in the video) now i wanna set glyphes....in the video these seem to be like the gate stuff in category "empty" but well i searched through some categorys but i didnt find them....

gate and dhd work perfectly when i play them but unfortunatly without my custom addresses.

what i did wrong?

That video shows development of a new version of the gates that hasn't been released yet. It will be released in time, but for the moment, the only way is to set addresses like in OFP, that is, via script writing.

Cheers

If you wish to add glyphs to the gates then you need to add this line to the Initialisation box in the properties of the stargate you place on the map. You will need to edit certain parts and I will explain what you need to edit and I will post a reference picture with the numbers that relate to the glyph symbols.

First things first, choose your gate. After that put this into the Initialisation box:

[this,"firstisland",[19,22,7,24,6,35],1,false,"0 setfog 0"] exec "\DSF_SG_DHD\sqs\CreateIdentity.sqs"

In this line you need to change "firstisland" to a name you want to give your gate. It must be different for each gate or they will not work.

You will need to change [19,22,7,24,6,35] to the numbers you want/the glyphs you want. (Image Attached) and the number 1 at the end is the Point of Origin. You can change this number to any but I advise that you use a number that you haven't used on this gate.

Remember that if your address is [19,22,7,24,6,35] and that gate's point of origin is 1 then when you dial into this gate, you do not use that point of origin, you use the POO of the gate you're dialling from which is shown on the top left of the DHD GUI that pops up to dial.

Thanks Major Pain.

BANDIT, the bugs in multiplayer are 100% normal as it's an alpha release. I suggest that you try multiplayer once the new beta has been released which should be within a few weeks I hope.

That's the scripting way, thank you. Blessed are those that guide us on the path...

I used to have no clue how to do custom addresses until someone guided me. I just hope my little tutorial will help others.
