Was: Weird error "Bad version 48 in pd3 file""
« on: May 10, 2010, 04:37:05 pm »

if i dont get the bad version error, i get an texture error as i try to spawn a stargate prop and as im spawned in the mission - i cant see the stargate then.

if i get the bad version thing, the game crashes.

ive tried several-pboing programs, including arma1 Binpbopersonal (i own ARMA I)

Ive deleted all the .p3d files in the folder and redownloaded them - didnt help

any suggestions?

I've split this as I'm 99% certain it is a different problem.

Master Bra'tac beat Apophis in a game of chess. Using Mr Bun the Baker.

When Master Bra'tac fell from above and failed to learn to fly on the way down, Hannor Mir still became a street pizza.

ArmA1 does not support the p3d file format (v48) created by the ArmA2-Tools.
That's what the error message is telling you.
I don't know for sure, but I doubt that the paa file format created by the ArmA2-Tools is supported either, as even TexView2(ArmA1) can not open paa files created by TexView2(ArmA2).

well i am using the arma I tools at the moment, thats making me curious.

so, the p3d file can be handled by I and II, but the way its encrypted is diffrent, i got that one, and tried several ways to .pbo the downloaded folders. but the weird thing is that no matter wich tool i use, the thing wont work:

as with the binpboperson - thing from BIS - i get the texture error - i guess that corrupts all textures, as even those in the editor give an error message (those lill preview pictures wont show up, and an error message complains about them)

with pboview i can see the preview pics, but the game crashes while loading, and with eliteness  (v2.19) it doesnt work either.

i tried to select and unselect the 'binarize' button whilst using the BIS tool, didnt help.

ArmA2 (unbinarized) p3d files can be opened with the ArmA1 O2, so to fix this error you just have to load the p3d with the ArmA1 O2 and resave.

Also see this thread, there we discussed this error message before:

Ok, In order to quell further speculation I'll just tell you why your having a problem... The models are already binarized for ArmA II.

In order to strip any development files from the pbo's (which are about 6GB big inclusive) I binarized the directory then unpbo it; the SVN isn't compatible with ArmA as of yet.

ITER was originally an acronym for International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, but that title was dropped due to the negative popular connotation of "thermonuclear", especially when in conjunction with "experimental".

Hmm, strange, what's with the orange line? Anyone has an idea why it's there?

Icewind, I have no clue what you're talking about.
There was no ArmA I version.
There never was.

There was! The truth will come out! Don't listen to him... oh wait, someone's at the door.
