ARMA Hyperdrive
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:59:56 am »

hey!

http://www.file-upload.net/download-2516123/07-2e05.SaraLite.zip.html

example mission.
hyperdrive:
no visual effects yet!
fuel is drained, if your out of fuel youll drop out of hyperspace, somewhere between the point where you started and the point where you intended to fly to.
your fuel will be recharged slowly, although i think it recharges too fast at the moment.
just board a ship, and choose the 'hyperdrive' action, open your map, and select a destination (will timeout after 30 seconds)

mission:
if you walk to the ammobox you can activate the 'hypjump' script.
this will call in 6 alkesh via hyperspace (takes 10 seconds or so, just look in the direction of the crashed teltak!)

if you want to use the hyperdrive on your own, just take over one of those alkesh :P

have fun

arma2:

download the mission, and decompress it.
you will need two .sqs files for the hyperdrive, hyper.sqs and hyper2.sqs. for the refuel thing youll need slowrefuel.sqs.

first, set up a new mission and spawn a teltak or an alkesh for example, in the init line copy:

Code: [Select]
this addaction ["Hyperdrive","hyper2.sqs"];[this]exec"slowrefuel.sqs";
save the mission. then copy the 3 files mentioned above into the mission folder: hyper.sqs ; hyper2.sqs and slowrefuel.sqs.
go back to arma2 and it will work.

well atleast i guess that works.

ps:
if you are a mission maker you can take a look into the mission.sqm to see how i did the 6 alkesh thing.

you dont have to guess it works that way! its really cool that you can add this to every vehicle you like (and pls keep it like this:P) but for that it would be maybe easier when you make a sys that executes the others so you just have to add one script in the init line

tested it for a few seconds.have to admit its pretty nice so far!
nice security so you cant start it from the ground:P

some suggestions:
would be cool if you could mark the point where you wanna leave the hyperspace. like in here:
http://www.armedassault.info/index.php?game=0&cat=news&id=2517

just something like a cross so you know where you clicked.

-more fuel drain! way more!

-also some more options like initiate hyperspace(where you can set the point) and then something like "jump" to go there

-at my first time i was stuck in the map(later it was still annoying to leave to elave the map view)........could you pls add that you leave the map view directly after marking?
and i mostly crashed into trees^^ pls add something so it keeps the speed and the height after the jump......right now your speed get to zero.

and later you sure wanna add some hyperspace fake in the air right?(because of the height of 7000) what also would be nice would be just to speed the vehicle up^^

give it a speed like 7000! no possibility to turn right, left,up or down but mega speed.that way it sure looks awesome when you getaway from your enemys.you could add some glow effects during that anyway and a mega blur!

and think about adding selfdestruction^^ such a high developed vehicle mustnt be used by enemys

untill now really awesome stuff so far! and pls make it multiplayer compatible if it aint^^

later shields and stuff could be cool aswell........and when the vehicle idles the fuel refuels

right now it aint much.

you choose hyperdrive in the menu and then you have to choose a position on the map and well then you are in a height of 7000 and then you get teleported back in your height but at your destination point.

right now no special stuff

but its cool to have a F35 with hyperdrive;)

ok

Changes:
-higher fuel drain
-"JUMP!!"command added (dissappears after 5 seconds in case you accidently activated the hyperdrive)
-removed the 'velocity goes to zero' - thing - instead your velocity should be the same as it was before entering hyperspace (seems buggy yet)
-if your speed is below 50 (with helicopters, teltak or alkesh for example) you speed will go down to almost zero
-refuels only if your speed is below 10 and above -10 and if your out of hyperspace (maybe i could ad some higher refuel rate if its landed)
-only one file execution needed

http://www.file-upload.net/download-2525059/07-2e05.SaraLite.zip.html

ps:

Setting the velocity to a very high value causes problems like loopings in hyperspace and other weird stuff - setting it to zero seems to be the best solution at this point
as for the hyperspace fake, if someone could model a tube with some hyperspace texture in it faking hyperspace would be alot easier then with bare hands. HINT

Don't do it via a textured tube.

Master Bra'tac beat Apophis in a game of chess. Using Mr Bun the Baker.

When Master Bra'tac fell from above and failed to learn to fly on the way down, Hannor Mir still became a street pizza.

Pretty good addon. The new mission is bugged though. Its funny when you use the hyperdrive on a soldier and watch them fly away.

I dunno how to use ingame bloom, the idea is not bad, but i still prefer something else,

Don't do it via a textured tube.

yes, textured tube has some disadvantages, sizeproblems with bigger objects and some other issues, but still i have no other good idea.

Matt had the idea of using something like the wormhole simulation, but i dont have a row of fitting pictures i could add.

Yes maybe ask whoever is working on wormhole textures/sequence and just use that or edit the colour like this:
Daedalus Hyperspace

Or atleast something like that, if not then as i recommended a kind of blur/bloom effect
