ITER was originally an acronym for International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, but that title was dropped due to the negative popular connotation of "thermonuclear", especially when in conjunction with "experimental".

nice! maybe you could place kinda like planets in that map.there is sure a way to fake sky on the planets like setting a ball with a skymap around the planets and then when you fly to the sky you get into the universe.that would be pretty cool:D in other direction you set a texture of a planet.........should be possible.atleast i could do it with half life map editor:D

that ball with the both textures(sky and planet) has to be so you can fly through

would be cool if you could do such stuff:D anyway keep up the great work:D

Yep it is a sky replacement, I'm having issues with the horizon textures introduced in ArmA2, they're completely green and changing the textures didn't change their color ingame, I really dunno what's going on there.

Hmm about the skybox idea for planets, if you take a look at my island, there are large shields at the ice planet, but if you get close like 3m to the border the shield will disappear so in close proximity a seperate skybox would cause problems.

haha nice! now we can play asteroids the classic arcade game! you only need to make them move...

a different question. is it possible to make a map without any land or water? only sky/space?

it will be very hard to bring it practically together the space and the normal maps. you only see the space when you are out of the atmosphere (if there is at all).
for example you make a mission where you are in space first and then want to go down to a planet.
from space you would see the planet and if you fly down with a ship well then there is a problem. the map cant be done as a ball (apart from the size). we would need something like a atmosphere. on the ground you can look up to the sky and dont see through the atmosphere you only see the sky. if you fly over a certain height you pass through the atmosphere and you see the space (maybe the sky gets replaced or it can be done in one thing).

Nah, a map without land/water is not possible. Although you could simulate that, the Star Wars Mod for BF1942 (Galatic Conquest) had the same issue for their space maps.

They replaced the water texture with a static star texture overlayed by a yellow grid so the space battles were like moving in a "pizza box", a similar technique used in Star Trek Armada 2. You could always see the "ground" as it was highlighted by the yellow grid.

If using this technique for ArmA you would have a pizza box, too, but the positive height maximum would be alot higher as you can get really high.

For the planet issue... I guess too many problems (planets would have to be 2D) would come by mixing space and planets. However I could add e.g. asteroid bases, space stations or static ships to the map.

This would work perfectly, you would be able to start from a base, raid a base with ground troops, etc.

DSF Jaffa Units adapted for ArmA2

Model was updated in necessary parts to work in ArmA2 (Geo, fire, Memory, new heads, hands).

I added a less greener (left, original ArmA1 one to the right) and closed (middle) version:

Try at a golden armor to the right
(click)


Some things to remain (possible more  :biggrin: ):

-proper shadows for the Jaffa
-tweak shininess of the armor
-tweak staffweapon shot (doesn't seem to work anymore) + position (new hands)
-create, tweak and edit golden texture
-make red eyes go off on closed Jaffa when they die

Yep Tobi I will adjust the color abit, the armor seems to be brighter in the series.

As a side note, here's a try of continuuing my "Stargate Chronicles" movies from ArmA1 in ArmA2, hence the X prefix. Not much action again in the first episode  :p . It is told retroactive in time like Atlantis Episode 2 or so.
